TL;DR I noticed our company faced consistency issues with scattered brand elements and no single source of truth. To fix this, I audited existing materials, defined key elements (logos, colors, typography, tone of voice), and established standardized guidelines. I documented these in a centralized, accessible brand guideline and implemented it company-wide with training and support. Regular updates and feedback ensure ongoing relevance. This initiative has streamlined our brand presentation, ensuring consistency across all platforms.

The What

What is Mercari?

We reached a point where we no longer knew what Mercarei truly represented. Each team worked in silos, creating their own interpretations of the brand. This led to a fragmented identity, with every team having a different image of what Mercarei looked like. The lack of cohesion and unified vision became a significant challenge, highlighting the urgent need for a comprehensive brand guideline to bring everyone back on the same page.

After years of continually adding new brand elements and making countless edits to existing ones, we reached a point where we no longer knew what Mercarei represented. This fragmented identity created a lack of coherence, leaving everyone without a clear understanding of what our brand looked like anymore.

The next section covers Logo Usage & Guidelines, detailing the proper use of our Wordmark, Symbol, Brand Partnership Lock-ups, and Tagline Alignment. This section ensures a cohesive and recognizable visual identity across all platforms and partnerships, maintaining brand integrity and consistency.

Typography

The Typography section details the fonts and styles representing our brand's visual identity. It specifies primary and secondary typefaces, ensuring consistency and readability across all media. These guidelines maintain a cohesive and professional look, reflecting our brand's identity.

Color Palette

The Color Palette section introduces our brand's primary color scheme. It further expands on our visual identity with a secondary color system, strategically curated using color theory principles.
